They seem to fund programs that get a lot of media attention or are otherwise in fashion. But, the really frustrating thing is how much time they demand after funding you. They wanted us to attend multiple "training sessions" with various third party trainers. I think we'll end up spending 10% of what they awarded on staff time for their silly trainings.

Their goals seem to be more about their own marketing than anything else.
If you insist on having post-award requirements please state them upfront. And, reconsider whether you really want to force small nonprofits to dedicate staff time to your dog-and-pony shows.
