We've received funding from DQF in 2018 and 2019. The grant managers are great to work with, supportive, and always flexible with our timelines and deadlines. Which was helpful, because they ask a lot of engagement from grantees and their application is pretty labor intensive, both the questions and the UX in their online portal.

Our org had some existing connections to other DQF grantees, and it was very easy to contact them and arrange to submit a proposal. The funder’s guidelines are lengthy, but clear. The online application portal is not terribly user friendly, especially for budget input. Staff is great, responsive, and has provided us with ample support. This funder does accept unsolicited proposals.

DQF has some really ambitious goals and is working in all 50 states; there are a ton of success stories among their many grantees. They do a LOT of stuff to support network building among the grantees. Some of it is helpful (learning collaboratives, resources), but I do question whether they should put so much effort and resources into it (multiple, required in-person convenings each year) .
Look into a more user-friendly grant app portal.
Communicates with and supports its grantees. Dreams big!
