Pay more attention to consultants and their true understanding of the target population. In the current project, there were hurdles and issues that should never have existed, much less corrected by grantees.

Is there anything else that'd be useful for others to know to understand this funder?

Due to the risks and stretches taken by HFWCNY, the grant applicant or grantee needs to diligently watch everything to ensure that problems are not overlooked or missed completely.
