Grant Applicant - applied in 2017
If you are a small nonprofit, you might be wasting your time with this one. We applied for the 100&Change grant, believing that the innovation of our project and the critical need was in alignment with their funding ideals. It turned out that it was. Judges had great things to say about our innovative program. The primary reasons given in feedback why we were NOT selected were that we were a young, small, unproven, underfunded organization.
A grant that was supposed to be about taking innovative risks to reach beyond the established way of helping the world went to a nonprofit that is nearly 50 years old and already has revenue beyond $100,000,000. How is a grassroots organization supposed to compete with that? If we had $100 million already, we wouldn't need to waste our time asking for money.

They talk about funding innovative ideas, but most of their funding goes to either large, established nonprofits or to those who have been previously funded, leaving little room for innovation or creativity.
They've got great marketing.
