Apply with caution. We received a phone call and were invited to apply for funding. After reviewing the website, it didn't seem like our organization aligned with the foundation's goals. I spoke with a foundation representative, raised this concern and was still encouraged to apply despite the mismatch. We applied and were denied funding. It felt like a big waste of time especially given the concerns I raised.

Not sure. It's discouraging to invite an organization to apply, encourage them to apply despite concerns about foundation/organization goals not being aligned and then not fund the organization's modest request.
Don't invite applications if you aren't seriously considering funding the organization's request.
Make sure your application aligns directly with the mission goals listed on their website. Do connect with the organization representative to get clarification on what they are seeking to fund.
