Advice from a Friend

Fred C And Katherine B Andersen Foundation

Grant Applicant - applied in 2023

This foundation is accessible and very generous to our organization, but I know it can be challenging to apply if you don't have an existing relationship with them. In the past, it has been one of the more difficult/time-consuming grant applications to write and submit, but this year they've moved to an online application process that is similar to other major funders. It is much appreciated by this grant writer! It went from taking me 15 hours to 5 hours to get this grant submitted.

Pros

Builds relationships, Responsive

The foundation administrator is very accessible, but she appreciates applications submitted far in advance of the cycle deadline. My understanding is that they are not taking many new grantees, but sometimes can roll new ones into their rota as others drop off.

Pros

Positive leader in the field, Gives more than money, Culturally sensitive, Friendly, Likes site visits, "Gets" nonprofits and issues, Openminded, Responsive
