There will be no question in your mind about what they are looking for and what the expectations are from the foundation. In addition to having a clear, up to date, and comprehensive website, the foundation hosts trainings for applying and reapplying and encourages meetings prior to the proposal to help you best craft your proposal. They are through and can be tough, but exceedingly fair.

They host wonderful workshops, which you should attend. In fact, I would attend their "how to apply" workshop even if you aren't planning to apply, as they provide training for any grant that requires a logic model. Their applications do require a logic model, but don't be afraid. Your work will be stronger after going through their application process.

Good
Most accessible foundation I've worked with in the St. Louis area. They offer guidance and will even meet with you to discuss your project.
Good
They are clear in their objectives, but not inflexible if a grantee has an idea that hits most, but not all, of their outcomes.
An online portal for applications and reporting may make things more streamlined for all.
Expect a high degree of accountability on both sides of the grant-making relationship. However, expectations and commitments are clear from the start. Expect to work closely with program staff to complete the application. The level of detail in the logic model requires this. If you don't have the ability to meet with program staff and have their support to stick to the commitments of the grant, your experience and the Foundation's won't be a good one. If this is your situation, consider if this is worth your time.
