I have always found Gray staff to be very responsive and willing to talk through proposal ideas, whether via email or over the phone. They have a solid understanding that many groups most in need of funding don't necessarily have professional development staff and won't count that against them.

Gray is very involved regionally in advancing policy and relationships that will benefit the whole sector.
Advancing equity is a very important criteria for Gray. Your mission or project do not have to be directly related to social justice issues but you do need to be able to identify your organization or project's equity-based outcomes.
They make a point of wanting to see people compensated fairly for their contributions to a project, whether by covering the salaries or travel expenses of participating staff or funding stipends for community members' participation.
