Grant Applicant - applied in 2017

A group of politically correct "ladies who lunch" who make non-profits jump through hoops in a most unprofessional manner. Over 100 non-profits compete for less than 10 grants. They are looking for trendy causes, and the final award ceremony is embarrassingly like a bad game show.

Cons

Inadvertently exerts negative influence in the field, Doesn't "get" nonprofits and issues, Difficult to work with, Culturally incompetent

Do not waste your time. Yes, the prospect of securing a $100K grant is alluring, but there are literally 4-stages (LOI which is 17 pages long), Proposal, Half Day Site Visit, and finally a Dog & Pony Show Presentation that feels more like the final scene of The Bachelor than any professional grant program you've worked with before. All-in you'll spend weeks of your time on this proposal... and that's just to get the grant. There will be multiple rounds of "reports" and "post-funding visits" that make the entire process a nightmare of epic proportions. Steer clear dear friends and head for calming waters.

Cons

Inadvertently exerts negative influence in the field, Doesn't "get" nonprofits and issues, Difficult to work with, Culturally incompetent, Bureaucratic, Risk averse
