It can be really hard to get funding from McGowan. You have to have a Trustee "sponsor" you, and it took us years to finally get a meeting with our local trustee. He has sadly passed away, leaving all of the local grantees wondering if we will ever be funded again.

Bad
It took us 3 years to finally get a meeting, and it was only because we had a board member who lived in his neighborhood. Being a 100+ year old non-profit with proven results was not enough.
Good
Think of your non-profits as your partners. We are out there doing the good work that makes your philanthropic goals a reality. TOGETHER, your funding and our work will make the world a better place for us all!
Without an "insider" who can set up a meeting with a Trustee, it will be very hard to get funding, regardless of the quality and impact of your programs.
Once you get "in" with them, they are very generous, giving a meaningful grant that can truly have an impact.
