Don't be afraid to reach out and talk to them about your needs. They are super approachable and very well connected within the community. Chances are if there is a need, they already know about it. Have a solid game plan and don't spend too much time in your planning stages. They love to see meaningful activity.

This funder is in the community working hard alongside the rest of us.
The foundation is very in touch with community need. Oftentimes, they have ideas and strategies but need nonprofits to do the work. They are an amazing partner as they provide funding and encouragement. they also make sure that nonprofits have the tools and training necessary to do the job well. We are lucky to have them in our community.
Application has gotten simpler over the years but some of the attachments seem repetitive for people who have been funded year after year.

In a small community with a high per capita number of nonprofit organizations the Summit Foundation is doing an excellent job of mobilizing resources and enriching lives in Summit County.
Please keep in mind that funding day to day operations is the greatest struggle of nonprofits. Funding new programs allows us to target passionate people to support specific programs. But keeping the rent paid and the lights on is harder to motivate private donors to support.
The Summit Foundations gives a voice to Executive Directors to share needs and struggles to provide data on how they can best support organizations.
