We worked closely with the program officer for the KLE Foundation to draft our proposal. We had several meeting with the PO, ED, program staff, and development personnel to discuss the possibility of a grant and the scope of the project. The PO offered to provide feedback on our LOI before it was submitted to the foundation, which was extremely helpful. They are focused on outcomes, and have a very useful (and easy to use) outcome reporting matrix that they will work with you to personalize for your organization.
They are a small family foundation and are working extremely hard to make sure their funds are achieving measurable, successful outcomes. It has been great working with them.

Good
The PO is extremely accessible - answering emails quickly, always asking relevant questions, and wanting to be involved in the work. The application process was also great - it allowed us enough space to give all of the relevant information, and it wasn't overly taxing for us to complete. We have loved working with them!
Good
KLE is focused on improving education in Austin, and has recently expanded to include early childhood education. As a funder, they are uniquely focused on their philanthropic goals, and very invested in achieving measurable outcomes for communities that need it.
