I've had really positive experiences with all of the program officers I've worked with there (three for three different grants). They take a deep, substantive interest in the issues they're funding, and the projects they support.

Positive leader in the field, Risk taker, Insightful, Friendly, Builds relationships, "Gets" nonprofits and issues, Openminded, Responsive

I don't understand how Packard identifies its friends among nonprofits, but once they do, they are very supportive funders, more down-to-earth than other funders most of the time. Outside of the grant process, though, they often make faux pas in interactions with nonprofits and human service clients.

Pros

Positive leader in the field, Insightful, Friendly, Builds relationships

Partner or work closely with this funder

For a large foundation, the staff are extremely helpful and accessible, more so than many small foundations we work with. We have been welcomed at the foundation with respect from day one. Straight-forward application process and ongoing support for many consecutive years.

Pros

Positive leader in the field
