Atkinson Foundation is managed by Pacific Foundation Services. I reached out via email to the person managing Atkinson and got a prompt reply! She's been great giving realistic guidelines and very accessible. It was extra bonus to get a phone call from her telling me we were approved for the grant!

Continue funding programs in San Mateo County, where there are great needs, and not very much focus. Your support is very appreciated.
Funds organizations in San Mateo County - a bit of a rarity. Quick and efficient communication.

Appreciated the quick response to an email inquiry regarding eligibility. Having the grant application questions -- that are thoughtful and helped think through our program being requested for for funding -- in an easy downloadable PDF format to work off of made the time spent on the grant pleasurable.

Check their due dates and award decision dates before applying, so that you plan to have it submitted before the dates that matter if you need the funds for a project. I think there are 3 due dates a year with their Board meeting several months later.

Just giving an update to those who have applied with date of upcoming Board/decision meeting and if funded when we will know so that we don't email you asking.
Just the timeline from application to Board decision to receiving the funds is longer than you might anticipate, so plan expectations around that and all will be well!
They consider what you are requesting and make the award that gives you what you need for success.

There are four meetings (and thus four deadlines) each year.

Call/email before applying to make sure you are a good fit for the Foundation. They are great about pre-vetting organizations to make sure they are respectful of everyone's time. Cost per participant is very important to them and they want to make sure they reach the most amount of potential client.

It's important to remember the long-term impact a program can make, not just looking at the bottom financial line.
The program staff is great about responding to inquiries and giving feedback on applications. They have great relationships with their grantees and are keep them on as grantees for a long period fo time.
