This foundation is very well suited to social justice issues and we found that they were very receptive to our own situation. Our goals aligned perfectly.
Probably, a slight change to their grant scripting website. We found that we needed to add more than one type of document and there is no allowance for this. We had to separate and eliminate some photographs and videos in order to use the website script. We sent the photographs on a separate email. The file was too large for the website script to handle it.
This is a very liberal, but serious organization. We are a small unacknowledged Tribal Nation. Without their funding, we would not have been able to apply for federal recognition to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The fact that they were willing to fund us says much more about them than just stating that they are social justice advocates or liberal. This group has a heart of gold as far as we are concerned, if that tells you anything.
Communication. We feel that this foundation was experienced at communicating with prospective grantees. The ease with obtaining assistance and understanding is to be commended. They are very knowledgeable on the scope of social justice issues.

The initial application was quite arduous - a letter of interest, then invited to apply, then a phone interview. A lot of questions were required in the main application. The reporting and renewal application appear to be short and straightforward. That is great!
