Bingham Program staff encourage that applicants call to review ideas for proposals. This has worked well in several instances. Staff have also suggested other funding sources and approaches.

I am not able to address all of Bingham's work. These are certainly challenging times to work in the arena of health, whether at the state or federal level. I especially appreciate the Bingham Program's willingness to address policy.
The issues the Bingham Program seeks to address require sustained, long term attention. Small nonprofits like the one I work for struggle to raise the funds needed for sustained effort, including outreach.
Bingham staff understand the complexity of the issues surrounding early childhood and poverty. They are brave in taking on issues that other grantors find too controversial.

It is best to call and discuss your ideas for a project first to get a sense of what they are funding currently. They are very approachable. If your project is something they are interested in, they are very willing to help you think through your application.

In matters of health care, Bingham Program knows the Maine landscape well. Both program officers are very easy to work with and accessible. Study their website, then contact the program officers to see if your project fits their priorities. The online application is very simple and straight forward.

Don't confuse the Bingham Program with the Bingham Betterment Fund. Two different foundations, with different funding priorities.
This foundation supports not only health program outcomes but also the policy work that needs to happen at the state level to increase access to health care.
Simple, straightforward online application. Asks for just the right amount of information.
