The Agua Fund's leadership has a strong working knowledge of conservation issues and non-profit management. As a result, explaining our work and getting feedback about proposal ideas was easy and productive. I recommend discussing proposal idea(s) with the Executive Director before drafting a proposal to the Fund's preferences, questions, and concerns can be fully incorporated into the proposal.

Good
We have found the Executive Director and administrative personnel to be prompt and helpful.
Good
The Agua Fund's website lists recent grant recipients (with brief descriptions of funded projects). This is helpful to get a sense of the kinds of projects they fund. Also, Agua's leadership seems curious and eager to learn more about its grantees and what they experience. Director seems to see the Fund more as an equal partner with grantees than many funders do.
The Agua Fund is taking meaningful steps to reduce the complexity and time required to submit grant proposals and reports. For example, grantees are encouraged to re-use language from other funders' reports on Agua reports, so as to save time and energy. Agua also welcomes grantees' critiques of its online portal and is actively working to streamline its proposal and reporting processes.
