Advice from a Friend

Corporation for Public Broadcasting

Professional in the field

Be prepared and document everything. Through every step of the process, CPB has had a number of questions and requires immense preparation in advance of meeting with them. Also document everything and every decision made as you make decisions on the request. After submitting one proposal, it took five months for CPB to get back to me and they had a list of questions that needed to be answered before advancing our request.

Cons

Inadvertently exerts negative influence in the field, Doesn't "get" nonprofits and issues, Bureaucratic, Risk averse
