I would rate this funder's accessibility as very good. Their guidelines are clear, the application platform is user-friendly, and they offer helpful resources such as webinars and sample documents. Communication channels are open, and responses to inquiries are relatively prompt, which is encouraging for small or community-based organizations seeking support.

Good
I would rate this funder as highly accessible, especially for small, grassroots organizations. Their application process is straightforward, and they offer clear guidance on what they fund and what they don’t. The online application is open year-round, and decisions are made fairly quickly, which is a big plus.
They also provide resources and templates to help applicants understand the requirements, and the communication is respectful and responsive. While they may not have personal follow-up calls, their instructions and FAQs are comprehensive enough to help you navigate the process with ease.
Overall, they create an encouraging space for emerging, volunteer-led initiatives to seek support—something many funders do not know
Good
This funder appears to be highly effective in meeting its philanthropic goals, especially in empowering grassroots, community-driven initiatives. By providing small yet strategic grants (such as micro-grants of $500), they support early-stage projects that may otherwise struggle to secure funding.
Their focus on measurable community impact, support for volunteer-led work, and inclusive funding practices (such as openness to non-registered and marginalized groups) shows they are committed to equity and social justice.
Furthermore, the funder's quick turnaround time, rolling application cycle, and clear guidelines allow organizations to act on urgent needs and ideas without long delays—demonstrating a flexible and mission-aligned approach.
In short, they are making a real difference at the grassroots level by backing initiatives that directly address social challenges.
My advice would be to consider offering small follow-up grants or mentorship support to successful grantees. Many grassroots organizations gain valuable momentum from the initial funding but face challenges sustaining or scaling their impact. A light-touch continuation grant or guided support could help these initiatives grow stronger and create deeper, long-term change.
Our overall relationship with the funder was positive and supportive. The communication was clear, and the application process was well-structured. While competitive, the experience was respectful of our time and mission. --- Is there anything else that'd be useful for others to know to understand this funder? This funder values clarity, community impact, and grassroots innovation. It's important to be specific in your proposal and to demonstrate how your work creates measurable change, especially for marginalized groups. Be sure to align your goals with their priorities and be concise but passionate in your application.
One thing this funder does exceptionally well is supporting grassroots initiatives with minimal barriers. They make funding accessible to small, volunteer-led organizations that often lack the capacity or resources to apply for large grants. Their simple application process, openness to emerging projects, and trust in local changemakers empower underserved communities to take action. This approach builds real, ground-level impact where it's need

Leadership and staff are very approachable, responsive and progressive with respect to making changes based on applicant feedback. They do like to see innovative projects for returning applicants, and the funding amount might be less than budgeted, so it's best to have other funding sources available.

Being able to see the stories of other grantees through the "share your story" output is very nice. It allows us as grantees to be able to see the effects that Foundations Community Partnership has on the community, outside the scope of our own non-profit.
Extending the character limit on the application form might be helpful. Even if just by 50 characters or so!
They are very receptive to ideas that have the potential to make a difference! If it can benefit others, it is worth letting them know about.
Communication with the grantee once they have been awarded a grant. Communication about the check delivery, next steps, and expectations were clear and timely put.

FCP focuses on behavioral health and human services, and they not only fund organizations whose missions fit squarely into their giving areas, but also those nonprofits with missions that may contribute more indirectly to behavioral health and human services. In this way, they seem to be thriving in their philanthropic goals.
Consider multi-year grants - more efficient and effective for both funders and grantees.
We are incredibly grateful for a partnership that has proven to be both collaborative and honest. Communication is always warm and personal, and there is genuine interest not just in the mission and goals of our organization, but in the well-being of the individuals managing the programs.

The grantmaking process with FCP was wonderful. They were very supportive, open to meeting and answering questions along the way. With their support we were able to fund a 3-year Strategic Plan which is crucial for our organization at this juncture. Everyone we worked with was friendly and passionate about their work.

Email them with questions or follow up. We applied for one grant and didn't get it, but they told us to apply for a different grant and received full funding based off their recommendation.

To update their emailed instructions about reports and the agreement because they seem out of date through the grant portal.
