Grant Applicant - applied in 2018
The online application portal is complicated and buggy. You will most likely have to contact the administrator via phone to ensure that your organization is set up properly and/or to request technical assistance when editing your proposal. The phone conversations I have had with this administrator have been less than pleasant.

Again, technical assistance is often required and seemingly only available over the phone.
Good
The Hillman Family Foundation model is interesting, with so many foundations spread across the country, with one portal to apply to any or all of them (depending on geographic area, priorities, etc.). Technical issues aside, they seem to be very generous with their funding and meet the guidelines that each of their foundations describe.
Improve the web portal and technical assistance available. The person at the other end of the phone has been borderline abusive multiple times, but we have had no other choice but to call the foundation if we wanted to submit the proposal.
Allow plenty of time before the deadline to access and submit your proposal. The process, at least for the foundation we regularly work with, is long...around 9 months between submission and award.
This funder funds! We have received several fully-funded grants from our community's local Hillman Family Foundation, and are grateful for it.
