Read their guidelines for eligibility! This foundation has been narrowing in on their priorities, which is a good thing, but my org was a long-time grantee who sadly found themselves excluded by the newly gained focus. If you are eligible, they have a pretty standard application and deadline; be sure to know your measurable goals and outcomes.

I had to ask whether we were funded or declined as time passed... never a comfortable position to be in. They were polite and quick to respond but I'd always take a quick no over waiting around, unable to update my team.
Good
I think their new priorities make total sense, and applaud them for specifically supporting elderly communities. It is better for all funders to be transparent and forthright about how they want to direct their money, as it helps grantwriters like me re-prioritize - now I know that I do not need to devote days to compiling this grant, which opens up time to develop proposals that truly fit other prospects.
As you increase your commitment to the elderly, don't be afraid to say "Past grantees, please note it is no longer within our mission to fund xyz." I know my org received several grants in the past and so more senior staff assume I will just keep applying. It really helps us grantwriters by being point blank.
Not funded.
Professionalism & clarity on the community they want to serve. Just my observation but it seems from my predecessor's notes that they have really stepped up - putting in place an application deadline, a formal application packet, etc.
