We only interacted with the firm representing this foundation. We found this company to be unusually thorough with initial inquiries, requesting extensive information prior to conducting a field visit or considering a LOI or proposal. Responses to these questions required several hours.
They were very responsive, but also communicated an unusual amount of self-praise for their own level of expertise. It really felt like they wanted to insert their expertise rather than support our intervention. This tone of superiority/entitlement created and reinforced a negative relationship with our organization. We found this dynamic of power entirely unhelpful and counterproductive to our mission.
Doesn't "get" nonprofits and issues, Difficult to work with, Culturally incompetent

Bad
Fast with responses but also paternalistic/patronizing in tone.
Bad
The arrogant and unpredictable behavior and communication style of the representatives of this foundation bewildered us. We have a difficult time imagining that they are able to properly engage in meaningful dialogue given the excessively high regard they have for themselves. The foundation is likely unaware of this tone of superiority that its representatives are communicating to organizations in the field.
The representatives of this foundation are of the old-school, top-down mindset (grantor knows all, grantee knows nothing).
