This foundation is so true to its mission and has a fairly easy application and follow-up process. The online system is easy to use, and the foundation is quick to respond if you are unsure of how to respond to a question.

The Dater Foundation appears to truly look at all the information given, and really appreciates concrete numbers and data. They are incredibly willing to fund programs that can show projections of success based on solid data. When they believe in what you're doing, they become an incredible partner and cheerleader in your work.

We didn't need to reach out--application and process were self-explanatory.

The overall application process is incredibly quick. It was a little less than 4 weeks between submitting our application and receiving a check (for $10,000 more than we requested) in the mail. Incredible!!

I think applying is definitely worth your time. They ARE reading all applications and they DO remember what they've seen. Very thoughtful and we were so appreciative of a phone call of congratulations and feedback on our application after being funded. We also really appreciated the very nice "no" letter the first time we applied over a year ago. :)

We didn't have a reason to try to reach out, but we did get a personal phone call to let us know we were receiving the full amount of our grant. Online application was straightforward and didn't have any really crazy requests, questions or attachment requirements.

This foundation wants to improve the lives of children and I think they are definitely targeting organizations who are doing that in many different ways.
Having a timeline of the process of decision-making would be helpful. It was a VERY quick process but we had no idea what to expect on timelines of decision making or a response.
They're nice! From last year's rejection letter to this year's phone call and feedback to tell us we were being funded--it seemed personal and not like we were just another piece of paper on the pile. The person who called us actually recited back a statistic that he remembered from our first application that really hit home for him.

Only fund programs for children, but very generous and grant is not too difficult. Do require media attention/acknowledgment for their grant which can be difficult to provide if you're a small program and/or have confidentiality issues with your clients.
