Upon receiving our proposal, the contact for this foundation (Treasurer) called our office and spoke angrily with the gentleman who answers our phones, refusing to answer his intake questions. He then spoke abrasively to a member of leadership, vehemently denying our proposal, stating funding is for a specific county only. The foundation doesn't list any restrictions on geographic area and have made grants outside the specified county and even the state. The potential grantee organization provides services to people with disabilities -- offering work opportunities, among many other resources for community members. According to the areas of support listed and close proximity to the service areas, this foundation seemed to be a good match. Funding is such an essential necessity for non-profits like ours that numerous proposals are submitted each year. The agency has never had such a negative response from a potential grantor. Many times, the grantor will even return the proposal, understanding the time and resources that go into preparing them.
Inadvertently exerts negative influence in the field, Doesn't "get" nonprofits and issues, Difficult to work with, Culturally incompetent
