Reviewer 4392 - Grant Applicant - applied in 2019
I was disappointed during my last application that the funder is now requiring applicants to complete their own project budget format. Our organization's budget does not fit their format and it was time consuming and stressful to try and fit to their needs. It left me wondering if we would receive a grant since our budget lines do not align. They also expressly say they don't want to fund salary?? But how we do operate the program without a staff person to manage it? There was also a question for EACH budget item that you had to state the 'connection to the project for each expense'... so you had to justify program supplies for the program? It was shocking to see this level of red tape from a Community Foundation.

This foundation includes a personnel line on their budget format, but then says they don't want to fund personnel, so unsure how to complete the question. Actual statement on budget: "Personnel (NOTE: Grant Committees prefer not to fund personnel expenses)"
The new budget format is burdensome and the salary line is confusing. How are grantees supposed to run our programs without staff?
