The staff at NMF get it. They take the time to talk about your work, think about your impact, and support you with the funds they have available. They are pleasant to work with.

Good
My experience has always been good. I have heard from orgs that aren't funded that NMF acts like they own the region and they are the bullies in Bemidji. But I haven't had that experience. Their staff are professional and sometimes busy, but they have always treated me and my org well.
Good
Bemidji definitely gets treated well. It's a big region with a lot of variation in nonprofit vitality. The staff seem interested in reaching all of NW Minnesota equally.
Get to know the staff. They are more adaptable than many funders.
They take the time to listen. And unlike many funders, I've seen them adapt based on what they hear from nonprofits.
