It took us a couple tries to get funded, but we kept at it stubbornly (when we might normally give up) because we were truly a perfect fit for their very specific and clear guidelines. The app questions reflect their specific interests so expect to put in some work on it. Great to work with once on the inside.

They like intensive multiyear programming that is sufficient to really make a difference in the lives of low-income youth and families. Focus is very clear and as stated on website.
Focused mission, decent size grants

Your feedback is greatly appreciated as it calls out many aspects for us to continue to work on, such as continuing clear guidelines and better streamlining application process.
Reviewer 827 - Grant Applicant - applied in 2015
The foundation has a robust website with a lot of helpful information on their funding priorities and process for applying. I'd recommend starting by reviewing everything they have posted there to determine your fit. They also post a list of organizations who have received funding in their different priority areas in the past. I recommend reviewing that list to see if your organization is engaged in similar work as other past grantees.

We applied a few years ago and weren't funded, but we asked for and received great feedback. Staff were accessible, friendly, and straightforward.

It's very helpful to have so much information publicly available about your grantmaking. It's surprisingly how rare it is to find a funder who posts grantee lists, especially lists that also describe the purpose/project that was funded. This type of information is incredibly helpful for a prospective grantseeker in determining "fit."
