Like to fund programs that provide the skills and opportunities for individuals to be successfully employed. Online application is a little more time consuming than others and includes prescribed outcomes. Foundation representative is very responsive and welcomes conversation prior to submitting. They also like to engage their employees in volunteer opportunities with grantees.

We did not fit the Foundation's grantmaking criteria. However, we did make contact with the Community Relations person for our region (see Xcel's website) who met with us and with whom we had an excellent conversation. We raised a local issue on which Xcel's work practices have a significant impact, and the Community Relations really listened and asked good questions.
