Make sure you contact the staff prior to working on a proposal. The staff are wonderful to work with and will answer questions in a prompt manner. Plan ahead and ask those questions early in the process. It is always best to apply early as well. I haven't had any problems with their online application, but there's always a first time.

Good
The staff are very accessible and welcoming. I would encourage you to first send an email and ask for a time for either a phone call or in person meeting. FMAF staff are active in the community and are transparent in how they work with their giving process as well as how they assist their donors work with their donor advised funds.
Good
FMAF is meeting its philanthropic goals and is working to expand their assistance in the community through their giving catalog.
It seems as if FMAF values its staff, so I would encourage them to keep valuing their staff and retain them to the organization as they are a strong asset.
Communicate early and often, but in an informed manner. The staff are very kind and will explain basics to you, but please inform yourself before reaching out to them. Use your time with the staff to ask deeper questions than when is your deadline.
The staff care about the non profit community and the community in general.
