Reviewer 3659 - Grant Applicant - applied in 2024
The Community Action Grant program application, especially the 'general operations' category, seems like it's been drafted by people who aren't familiar with grant-making or gen-op grants. Gen-op funding is intended for... general operating, meaning all of your expenses. The budget form only has a few limited categories, and they don't align with the vast majority of expense types that nonprofits use. It took hours to retrofit our budget, and it really obscures our actual budgetary information. Furthermore, when we hit submit, we got an email saying that 'scholarships are first come first serve, and even if it says submitted, it's not complete until all items are accepted by the committee." - so there's no way of telling if it's truly done. For a $10,000 grant, this was a really difficult (and slightly abusrd) process - as my colleague said, "curse them so that that their first born daughters will not be part of the revolution." I want to love you, AAUW - sorry it had to be this way!

The platform was difficult to use, and kept stopping, reloading, and glitching out.
