Advice from a Friend

Valero Energy Foundation

Reviewer 5776 - Grant Applicant - applied in 2019

They fund over a hundred nonprofits in most years in many different categories. You are more likely to get funded if you have an employee of the corporation on your board, regardless of your mission, as well as if you participate in their matching grant program. The only downside to that is that you have to ask your donors to donate to the foundation and not your agency, and then they turn around and give you all the money back plus 7% up to a certain amount.

Pros

Gives more than money, Friendly, Builds relationships, Likes site visits, Responsive
