Reviewer 3087 - Grant Applicant - applied in 2018
We received a grant through their immigration project. The project was easy, in that the application consisted of a 2-page concept paper and one revision based on a conversation about the first draft. However, they do not accept applications, so you have to find someone to introduce you before you can apply. They also do not allow you to publicly acknowledge you get funding from them.

Bad
They do not accept applications, and do not advertise their existence or funding capability, so unless you know someone, it seems almost impossible to get funded. Once you are in, though, they are very responsive.
Good
Their funding is flexible, and they are willing to have conversations about how to match their expectations/needs with your organizational goals and needs.
The practice of insisting on being an anonymous funder and only allowing applications by invitation is exclusionary. Although staff all seem like dedicated folks who care about diversity and inclusion and lifting up marginalized communities, I am not sure how they can ever fulfill that given that it is almost impossible for organizations to find them.
They provide excellent capacity building support in addition to their funding.
