Be sure to do your homework by reviewing the website, confirming an alignment, and paying attention to the deadlines. I would suggest reaching out to a program officer to confirm an alignment exists.

They are exceedingly targeted in how they award funding. However, if there is an alignment they will offer large, multi-year grants.
I would like to see the language around their guiding principles be less abstruse.
The grant application process is very well structured and they communicate this process well.

Caring for Colorado has moved to one deadline a year with a two-part application process. They are very open to conversations beforehand.

Good
Caring for Colorado sends out a survey to applicants (or maybe just grantees) to improve their process. They are all about making the application as easy as possible for applicants.
We were funded in 2021 and declined for the part 1 application in 2022. We were very surprised about this and received a quick and thorough response from the program officers when we requested feedback. They set up a meeting to discuss our proposal and provide feedback after their grant process is over in June. I really appreciated this as many funders don't take the time to provide feedback.
Good
They are very connected to the community and have program officers and leaders who have experience providing the programs they fund.
Takes the challenges of grantseekers seriously and tries to make the process as easy and transparent as possible.
