Social Justice Fund is great! If you are applying for the first time, I recommend calling them to talk about your organization and to learn about the funding process. Even if you are a current grantee, you should feel comfortable calling them about your next proposal before you submit it. They are very accessible and willing to talk through things.

The thing I appreciate the most about Social Justice Fund is that we can talk in the real language we use day to day. There is no need to "code switch" to appeal to funders that don't understand how oppression works or who will get threatened, offended, or shut down with words like "white supremacy", "white nationalism", or even just "racism".

If you are a small, grassroots organization just getting started check out their seed grants. If you generally won't show up on the radar of large funders, but do impactful social justice liberation work you should definitely apply to Social Justice Fund. And call them and talk to staff if you have any questions. This is a funder that I feel like it is authentically possible to build and maintain relationship with. They are accessible like that.
