It's an easy process if you have completed a grant with this funder in the past. Just be sure to have all of your relevant information at hand before starting the process. The application offers plenty of character space to detail your request and tell your agency's story.

Please coordinate grant due dates with area funders. There was a limited time between when the grant was announced and when it was due, and two other major funders had due dates at virtually the same time.
We appreciate access to the Scoring Matrix during the application process. We also appreciate that Washtenaw United Way provides adequate information during the sessions before the application process. They also respond quickly to questions.

UWWC's grant process is the easier, yet most comprehensive, process that I've experienced as a grant writer in Washtenaw County. The application is not easy, but thoughtful, and the questions are straightforward and relevant. Continue asking for feedback on the process because it absolutely has helped.

It is wise to have a full outline of your organization and how it directly ties into the community. Provide examples and do the application in sections.

I really like the structure the funder uses and how it allows for growth in a three year period of time.
I think the process was really smooth.
Do your research and build a good relationship!
I think they make you feel comfortable in the casual interview process and really listens to what the organization is doing especially in the community. I like how the focus is on diversity and inclusion which allows a wider pool of applicants that will enrich the community.

The funder is actively involved in helping to address areas of inequity in the community.
They are a really good group of people who honestly seem to care about their jobs and the community and how we can make it a better place for all.

My response would be to be open to the support the United Way staff gives. The Washtenaw United Way are true to their word that community comes first, & whatever way your willing to support the community your efforts will be supported and the application process is one they will guide you through if you ask. I loved the help our organization received. Thank You [staff].

I see changes & the funders help get me in touch with support through Catchfire, & online classes to help me understand what things personally I can learn to be open to equity.

I would offer the funder the advice that smaller organizations look forward to full grant request amounts to meet long term goals as it is harder at times to fully fulfill efforts to engage with the community endeavors. Larger organizations are more prone to successful outcomes because access of funds are not as difficult to access.
Great people.

This funder is wonderful! They truly aim to reach those most in need, and they back up this goal through action and investment. Review their funding priorities, and meet with a member of their team to make sure your work fits what they're looking to fund.

I really appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into the RFP process, and how it aimed to draw in community-based/ neighborhood organizations and associations. I appreciate your boldness and leadership in the community regarding addressing equity and systemic racism. Thank you for being brave enough to spotlight the disparities, and for having the difficult conversations that move us toward your vision.

They are educated and in-tune with needs in the community. They are not afraid to address systemic racism and root causes of poverty.
