Administrator is responsive and will call you back within a few days. It's a good idea to reach out to her in advance, as she may have some questions you hadn't considered.

If you are dropping off your proposal, realize the foundation office is on the Andersen Window campus which is huge. The foundation office is located behind the headquarter building on the river side. Look for the tiny signs and follow the path around to the right side of the building (river side).
This is a lot of material to print/mail. Perhaps consider an online portal.

You do everything right. All funders should take a lesson on your processes and accountability in the community. This is a great resource and funder!
Enjoy the process. They make it easy!
This funder has relationships with not only grantees but the whole community. They have such a positive influence on their employees, the funders who request grants, and the individuals who work with them to gain grants for ggeir organizations.

The program officer was extremely responsive and let me know immediately that the intended project did not fall under their funding scope. This quick response saved time and resources and also afforded clarity. Reach out immediately before applying!

My interaction with this funder was positive. Even though we decided not to apply, clarity is the next best thing to gen op funds ....because it saves critical resources! Thanks-

It is worth submitting a grant, but don't hold your breath. They have a long, opaque process and their Program Officer is responsive, but doesn't seem to be involved in decision-making so her ability to advise is limited.
Doesn't "get" nonprofits and issues, Risk averse

Their Program Officer is very accessible and friendly. What happens behind the scenes is completely opaque.

I'd advise them to be more transparent in their process and decision-making, and to have a more firm sense of what they are trying to accomplish with their Corporate Foundation grants.
Definitely give them a call first, but still don't count on the money - I've heard of many partners that have been frustrated by delayed decisions and/or declined grants.
They don't seem to have firm philanthropic goals - just general areas in which they fund.

Find a senior Andersen employee to join your board and advocate for your funding request. Won't be easy; the most senior people are already committed to other boards.

Andersen Corporate does a fine job funding nonprofit needs in the East Metro area of the Twin Cities.
Build in capacity to increase funding for your long-term grant recipients. As much as we enjoy your support, our costs do go up and finding other funders to fund general operating needs (rather than specific projects) is tough.
The higher up in Andersen your board member is, the more funding you can expect.
They stick with you once you are funded.

They're really serious about that St. Croix Valley thing. Office there, ideally serve only there and be a pillar of those communities, or move on to other opps.

They would to fund geographically and they do.
Be even more direct in discouraging "projects" or "we partially serve your area" if that's in fact true. Nothing wrong with wanting to fund only locally-based applicants and it helps nonprofits allocate their grant-seeking resources.

Andersen Corporate Foundation has enormous resources --but they operate with a very narrow, small-town perspective. Grants disbursed reflect this view.

Broaden your geographic scope to include St Paul communities where employees live and work (not just the St Croix Valley).
Funding does not extend beyond the St Croix Valley.
Andersen Corporate funds East-metro and local organizations well. Its reach, however, does not often extend even to Saint Paul.
