The process was very clear and the turnaround time was extremely quick. This level of transparency is rare in the grant funding world, and we really appreciated it!

Fills a really critical gap in overcome unexpected events. The only funder we've found that is filling this gap.

Open Road Alliance was exceptionally easy to work with. The process was well laid out, and each individual I was in contact with was very helpful. There was very little wait time between each step with personal contact from staff along the way. The criteria for receiving a positive outcome was new to me. This experience was an opportunity to learn as we moved along.

I felt Open Road was very accessible, from beginning to end.
Good
The criteria for Open Road grants is very specific; keeping projects on track when there is an unexpected roadblock. Where else would a non-profit go in such a situation. I haven't had the opportunity to explore the organizations who have successfully obtained funding, however.
Open Road made me feel like they were personally interested in our project. The speed of their response in comparison to any other funder I've worked with was surprising and helpful. We had a decision within days of the final interview, and even though it was unsuccessful, we appreciated having an answer quickly.

embrace and learn from their feedback - rarely do you get the opportunity to receive feedback during the grant application process.

Very refreshing to be able to speak to people throughout the process.

I believe they are doing well if the current process is the regular process (pre-COVID-19).
To keep being fast and thoughtful about the countries nobody else is willing to support. Thanks for both things.
They are fast.

Full transparency is a 'must' for engaging with Open Road. They are built on the idea that roadblocks occur, so they want to hear all the details of what you are facing. Yet at the same time you must demonstrate that your team is thorough, committed, and ready to follow through once the funding challenges is mitigated.

Keep doing what you're doing
The application process was one of the most pleasant we've experienced - we appreciated that this funder approaches applications like drafts in the sense that your idea needs to be clearly articulated for them to determine alignment or not, but they give thoughtful feedback in order to deliver final revisions.

If you meet the criteria for the funding (experiencing a road-block) and have funding in sight, this is the right partner to bridge you through that gap. I'd try to get a warm intro from someone that you know.

This is such a unique fund and rightly placed in the market to support high impact start-ups and organizations weather the many storms that they'll experience.
They make sure to really understand you, the business, and where they could fit in. They take the time to really get to know you.
