This grant process was transparent, and I enjoyed my call with the Selection Committee member. Though we were not funded, I would apply again as the application was not onerous.

I don't think I spent enough time thoughtfully planning my application as I found the grant a week before the deadline to apply. The Web site has excellent guidance on what makes a good application, and they have a Q&A section for asking your questions before submitting the grant. They were extremely helpful and responsive. Even though I didn't get the grant, I think this is an excellent organization and opportunity. The support they provide applicants demonstrates how much they really care about the projects they fund and the success of students.

Pros

Positive leader in the field, Gives more than money, Friendly, Builds relationships, Openminded, Responsive

It's great to call prior and get a sense of what they are looking for. They're very receptive. In your application, be as clear as possible about where the money they are giving is going to and why it's impactful to the whole project (if you total project costs are above what you're asking for).

Pros

Friendly, Builds relationships, "Gets" nonprofits and issues, Responsive

I had no problems with writing and sending this application for a grant but it was not easy to be turned down for a grant since we appeared to be very qualified for support from this grant foundation. I realize that far more people request grants than the company's are able to give each year but it hurts anyway.

Cons

Doesn't "get" nonprofits and issues

We have tried for months to get answers from Colocation on where the grant application is located. We have called(spoke to the same individual each time), sent emails to the [email protected] numerous times, and filled out the contact form. We never received a single response. It is very frustrating when you have told a campus principal that we have found a grant that would be ideal for her initiative, but you can't get the people to communicate with you. If the grant is going to be funded, as it says in the My Sorry for 2018, then we would think the application would be easy to access.

Cons

Difficult to work with

I credit this funder for having a straightforward grant application process, as simple as filling in the form and emailing it with the requested budget. I had just started as a development officer, and this was my first grant application. Thanks for making it stress-free. Although it would have been better to receive funding than to be turned down!

Pros

Friendly, Responsive

Thank you for your feedback!

We are going to do our best to keep the process straight-forward but with a little bit of technology help along the way. In addition, we have updated our grant "Guidelines" so that it is a bit clearer on what we are looking for within each application.

As for comments from organizations that have been funded, we are happy to connect you with them! Please email us!

Thank you again!
