We will continue to fund new and innovative programming!

The proposal was very simple to complete and had plenty of room to explain our program. The grants are not huge, but could definitely make a contribution to a small program or a larger one that needed multiple grants to sustain it. The grant focus is fairly broad, so if you have an opportunity to talk with someone at the organization first (probably their VP of Corporate Strategy), that might help you decide whether to apply.

The VP of Corporate Strategy was very open to talking on the phone before I submitted our proposal and, after we were declined, she talked with me more about the reasons behind that decision. It also turned out later that she was in our area, and we were able to meet in person, tour our organization, and talk more about the goals of the company and our programs.
Good
My sense is that the corporation wants to support STEM learning as much as they can and that the VP of Corporate Strategy is a strong force in implementing their grant program. I think they don't have a huge budget and do get a lot of proposals, but that she works hard to make fair choices about who and what to fund.
It's always helpful, when you're researching a grant, to be able to find out how much will be given in grants (even an estimate) and what range of funding those grants might provide. I think this is a relatively new program, so they may not have all that figured out yet, but could possibly add that to their information somewhere down the line.
Communication.

Thank you for your feedback - especially your kind words about our VP (we will pass it on). I am glad we were able to see your organization in action!

The grant application process is not as complicated as others. However, the possibility of having your project funded is slim.

Please consider smaller grant applicants in addition to large scale company applicants when awarding grants in order to extend the equal opportunity to a variety of grantees.

I can proudly say that we consider all grant applicants equally. In the past, we have funded smaller organizations (under $1MM operating budget) and can happily report they have sustained the program. Then again, there is always room for improvement - we are looking at different ways of changing the grant and will keep you updated on all changes!

It might be worthwhile to run your program ideas before the organization to see if this is within their focus. Also, if you are not funded, ask why. Was your funding request outside of scope, was your budget too big, etc.

Be more specific in type of programs you want to fund, and what you will not fund. Ex: is there a maximum percentage of the total program budget you will fund? Be very specific, and transparent, when saying why funding was not granted
Application is easy to use
