Make a point to call and meet with the staff. They are warm, curious and engaged. When my application wasn't a direct fit with one funding-priority area, they kept the application in mind for other grants and also helped me connect with another foundation. True partners in service.

Good
Very accessible. They seem to want to fully understand fresh approaches.
Good
I appreciated that they viewed our mission -- adoption education & support -- within the context of their overall funding goals around parenting and support for mothers. Not everyone "gets" that when a woman chooses to place her child in another family's arms through adoption, it's a different, but very valid, form of parenting and mothering. Their concern and interest in programs that support birth mothers was refreshing and encouraging to me.

The team at CCF is always eager to learn about our funding needs and help explore ways that the needs can align with available funds. From the President, to the program officer we work with, the staff is super accessible for phone or in-person conversations. Additionally, their other team members are excellent at fielding questions specific to their area of expertise. Whether it is questions about a donor's interest in making a planned gift or gift tracking, the CCF team is always professional and helpful.

Good
CCF is a model organization for accomplishing two key goals--linking specific donor wishes to worthwhile nonprofits, and managing funds in an exceptionally professional manner. When donors direct their resources to CCF, they can be assured that impactful organizations that align with the donor's goals are strengthened.
Good
Keep up the good work by staying connected with nonprofits that you already fund, and explore new ones who align with your mission.
Feel free to pick up the phone and call one of the CCF team. It is a great starting point to learn about their funding and build relationships.
Connect donor values and wishes with organizations that strengthen communities and families.

I have had three contacts with the Grants Manager and each time, her conversation was crisp and terse to the point of being unkind. I was left with the distinct impression that I was wasting her time with my questions. To be fair, a phone call to the Program Officer with this same foundation was a very pleasant experience.

Bad
It depends on who you talk to. I will never contact the Grants Manager again. She has left me with a poor impression of the Catholic Community Foundation.

Nonprofits should feel free to contact your staff to get answers to their questions. ALL of your staff should treat callers with common courtesy.
