Grant Applicant - applied in 2015

Given the potential for a large grant in the future, it's well worth the effort. But it took over a year of cultivating during 4-5 calls, 2 meetings, and a some (not excessive) paperwork to finally get a 'small' ($25,000) grant.

Pros

Worth the time to pitch, Reasonable reporting terms

Cons

Bureaucratic

Other

They're such a big kahuna that you kind of have to apply. However, they throw their weight around and refuse to fully compensate grantees for shared costs and administrative overhead. On top of that, their budget and reporting templates are painfully time consuming and expensive to administer because they require extremely detailed info on every line item they fund. So drag of not covering full costs while actually driving up those costs. Enjoy!

Pros

Multiyear funding, Builds relationships

Cons

Narrow guidelines

Applying is too cumbersome for words... I have attempted to apply for the past 5 years and have never completed any request. They are intimidating and scary.
