It would be a good idea to call the folks at the Agency first. They are very friendly and helpful. There is a full time staff person who handles the Grant application process. They can steer you in the right direction and let you know if you meet their criteria.

I would advise to read grant requirements and if they have any questions to call Allegany. My experience with Allegany has always been great. Most importantly, the staff are true to Allegany’s mission. They demonstrate God’s love in how they transact with the grantees. They treat grantees with kindness, they are knowledgeable, helpful, courteous and patient. It is always a pleasure speaking with the Allegany staff.

A phone call to the AFM Director of Grants &Technology got me started early in September. I felt informed of the guidelines and encouraged to try. So I began to work on the Application Form. I tried to follow the guidelines scrupulously, esp. the Criteria. I spent about 25 hours on it in about 5 sittings. Had others review it. Submitted it a day before due date.

Pros

Gives more than money, Risk taker, Culturally sensitive, Friendly, Builds relationships, "Gets" nonprofits and issues, Openminded
