I love Peery. They take a very practical approach to grant applications and reporting requirements once you are a grantee. We do milestone checkins over the phone with a brief agenda. They also offer lots of support programs for grantee but do not pressure you to go if it's not relevant to you.

The most engaged funder we've worked with. But extremely aware and respectful of our time. The only institutional funder that has gone above and beyond the common sentiment of "we want to allow you to do the work and not burden you with too much unnecessary grant proposal and reporting work". They've become engaged in a truly supportive manner that only enhances our work.

Great at partnering with CBO's by meeting at the midway and end of the grant cycle. Looking for honesty with their relationships, not necessarily wanting to hear about successes but challenges as well. Program Officers very bright and approachable. Open to multi-year funding which helps to gain traction with programs.

WE RECEIVED FUNDING FROM THE PEERY FOUNDATION THROUGH THE PVF. THE CHECK ARRIVED PROMPTLY. THEY WERE VERY FLEXIBLE WHEN WE WERE UNCERTAIN IF THE PROJECT WOULD CONTINUE INTO A SECOND YEAR.

There is little power dynamic between the Peery Fdn team and ourselves (a grantee). This is rare in the funding world. That said, we are able to have very transparent discussions. The Peery team is also eager to help--when we ask. They do not force themselves and recognize that we run our organization, ultimately. Overall, we have a great relationship. If there team was able to visit the field more often, it would help them to better understand our realities.

In all honesty, I have nothing negative to say about them. They are the example of what I wish every single funder would be: responsive, flexible, sympathetic to the actual conditions of the work, low touch, humble, no overinflation of ego, and understanding of the role they play in the sector.
