Great communicators. More funders should follow their lead.

In line with the funders philanthropic goals, we were able to utilize our funds to develop trainings, materials and systems to help the organization develop structure and well-informed strategic goals in support of our mission.
Less advice and more praise: Thank you for being a funder that prioritizes smaller organizations like ours, giving us the opportunity to develop ourselves. We strive to be smarter and better every day, and grant opportunities like this are critical stepping stones to long term organizational success.
Ask them questions up front. They will help clarify their goals, which will help you construct your requests in a way that ensures the relationship is a good match, mutually benefiting all parties.
The have done an excellent job of communicating to us about where we need to focus our next proposal in order for our submission to best match their funding goals for 2023.

The Foundation and Executive Director are very responsive via email to questions the grantee may have. Especially if there are budget questions. They can easily be reached via email.

I'm not 100% sure of ALL its philanthropic goals. I can however say, I feel the foundation is very involved in mental health and it would be best to have more funds to support under resourced communities, where the need is so great.

More $$ for mental health programs for vulnerable populations
I believe they have a very committed Board of Directors

As always, it is important that your request aligns with the foundation's objectives. It is also helpful if you have a relationship with one of its board members

If able, contact the executive director prior to applying. Make sure your project is well-aligned with the intent of the Foundation and that your proposal stands out, as funding will be competitive.

I do not have enough information to respond to this question. I am not familiar with the Foundation's grantees or funded projects.
The "Priorities Link" in the 2023 grant application instructions was very helpful. I have previously found it difficult to find information about the Foundation's mission, history, values, and priorities.
I appreciate the executive director's transparency during the application process and feedback on declined proposals. It is not always offered by Foundations, and it is very helpful for applicants.
