The staff were very personable and interested in learning about the issues and the needs beyond their usual funding areas, which was really nice.

The funder has traditional focus on economic security and employment and it was nice that they stretched to include older adults in the focus with this grant.
Be open to needs as the pandemic will linger in its effects for older adults, hands on caregivers and adults with disabilities.
Had a previous grant and with the COVID-19 emergencies, were identified as a strong program for older adults

I have had very positive experiences - I would say to come prepared with data, well organized anecdotal supports, and to be candid and transparent in your challenges and plans. All my conversations have been thoughtful, reflective and part of an iterative process that has yielded more than funding for my organization - our program officer is a trusted partner and has informed my thinking and stretched me as a strategic leader.

Engaging with the team directly is a wonderful experience.
Process advise is to write the grant out in Word first, and then copy and paste into the website. Check format prior to submit.

Don't have enough information to be able to accurately answer this question.
They're thoughtful, inquisitive and realistic. That's three.

Make sure to get in touch with Frances, she's the best grant manager I've ever had the pleasure of corresponding with, and really helps you streamline goals for the grant partnership.

To always keep great people like Frances around.
They care about the work of their grantees. I'm so grateful to have had Frances visit our after school program and talk with me about expanding our vision for youth empowerment.

It's definitely worth having a connection with the Haas Fund before you submit. You may not be able to get through to the Program Officer, but you might have luck with a Grants Associate.

We found them very accessible and supportive, and quick to reply to questions that arose during the grant process.
They've always given us free rein to allocate grant funds in the way that will be most useful to us.

I would suggest making contact with the program officer before deciding on the project and approach. In my experience s/he is very helpful and candid about what the Foundation is seeking and what kind of programs might be most appropriate to its current funding goals.

Very well. I appreciate receiving multi-year awards, and having rather general interim report requirements. The tech support people are very responsive, though the online portal is not intuitive and out-dated in format and structure.

The funder provides generous multi-year support for our music-education programs that helps make longer-term planning more feasible.
Get a new online portal.
After checking all the boxes above, it's clear what we think!
we submitted a report only and are now in the first of two mandated rest years.
This funder shows genuine interest, commitment, and confidence in the artistic and educational programs it funds in our organization.
