Make sure to get in touch with Frances, she's the best grant manager I've ever had the pleasure of corresponding with, and really helps you streamline goals for the grant partnership.

Good
To always keep great people like Frances around.
They care about the work of their grantees. I'm so grateful to have had Frances visit our after school program and talk with me about expanding our vision for youth empowerment.

It's definitely worth having a connection with the Haas Fund before you submit. You may not be able to get through to the Program Officer, but you might have luck with a Grants Associate.

We found them very accessible and supportive, and quick to reply to questions that arose during the grant process.
They've always given us free rein to allocate grant funds in the way that will be most useful to us.

I would suggest making contact with the program officer before deciding on the project and approach. In my experience s/he is very helpful and candid about what the Foundation is seeking and what kind of programs might be most appropriate to its current funding goals.

Very well. I appreciate receiving multi-year awards, and having rather general interim report requirements. The tech support people are very responsive, though the online portal is not intuitive and out-dated in format and structure.

The funder provides generous multi-year support for our music-education programs that helps make longer-term planning more feasible.

After checking all the boxes above, it's clear what we think!
we submitted a report only and are now in the first of two mandated rest years.
This funder shows genuine interest, commitment, and confidence in the artistic and educational programs it funds in our organization.

The Foundation has recently changed it's priorities. Technically-speaking it's abandoning its previous goals. For us, as a grantee, it will mean curtailing work that's in progress.
In three years of funding we had three different program officers. However, they are responsive and collaborative.

The program officer was honest, transparent in giving advice, and an excellent steward for our proposal. We never felt that we were unclear on what we might ask for and what the interests of the Foundation might be. A very positive experience!

Keep up the great work.
Gave us guidance not only on what to emphasize, but also what was not of interest to fulfilling their mission. We were also given realistic expectations of what amount we might expect.

Staff is very helpful and responsive to questions. Our organization has learned so much from the staff.
Good
Because they have a former Executive Director of a non profit on staff, they are able to give great advice and guidance. The Fund has been a great mentor to us and have actively helped us grow
Keep doing what you are doing! And THANK YOU!
They take a lot of time to listen to your process and what you are trying to accomplish and try to help in the best way possible.
