Don't be disappointed if you are not funded the first time. The competition is fierce for a very limited amount of funding. We were turned down the first 5 years before we received anything. Even though it's a relatively small community foundation, the competition is fierce for funding.

You are doing a great job AND all the nonprofits need more money. :)
Just know it is very competitive to get any money. Don't assume because it's a small town foundation that competition is small for a grant. It's not.
This funder helps a very wide variety of local causes and rallies the community together to support nonprofits.

The application is not an online submission, it must be emailed. The form is bit clunky.

1. Put the application process online. 2. Do not ask applicants to use your budget template. A copy of our budget should be sufficient.
Foundation personnel are very helpful and friendly.

Simply and straightforwardly outline your needs, how these needs demonstrate need(s) in the community, and why Gilroy Foundation funding is appropriate and a good fit for your needs. They are fair and want to make the community better. So as long as you do this, and funding is available, you have a good chance of getting funded.

This is the only funder we have that requires submission of our RRF-1 form. The criteria for grants isn't a match for the questions on the application, for example, the criteria about local volunteer involvement.

The application was very straight forward and easy to fill out even during a 2020 crazy year.

The accessibility was wonderful, no problems very responsive.

I feel this funder is accomplishing their current philanthropic goals wonderfully. They are a great local organization that helped us a local school be able to update a theater program that was in real need. We are now able to continue to provide wonderful theater program for many kids who otherwise would not have this experience.
There is no advice I could offer, just THANKS.
Their communication is wonderful, straight and clear.

Be clear in having tangible goals for the use of the grant, and be clear on the benefit to the Gilroy community.

The foundation has had a significant impact on the community over the years. The types of grants they offer clearly address the needs of the community, and are clearly described in the grant process.
It's a challenging time for non-profits, your efforts are especially valuable these days. Please continue your efforts.
The clarity in the grant process was excellent in what they are looking for and in how to apply. When I had a question, they responded quickly and completely.

Just write the grant in December. If you have a need that truly benefits Gilroy students, you have a good chance of success.

The office staff is quite helpful and friendly. You should make sure you contact them prior to dropping off paperwork or going to their office because there is a code at the gate. Also, the time you arrive should be discussed to make sure staff will be able to meet with you.

This funder is extremely interested in helping the youth in our community. They fund various school and after school activities to keep the children in our community striving and given opportunities to explore opportunities to thrive.
Please stop requiring 8 hard copies of the grant. This foundation would help save trees, as well as, applicant's time and money if you can transition to an on-line application process.
This funder is a positive and integral part of our community. The staff have strong connections with our educational system and social services so that they can help support the continued needs our city must attend to.
