This funder’s application process is straightforward but requires strong alignment between program design, outcomes, and budget. Be prepared to clearly articulate your impact using both qualitative and quantitative data, and ensure consistency across all sections. Starting early and gathering internal data in advance is helpful. Overall, the process is well-structured and manageable for organizations with established programming and evaluation practices.

Our experience has been very positive. They are thoughtful, strategic, and genuinely care about the long-term impact of the work they support.

If I were advising a colleague, I would say to go in with a clear sense of your mission and how your work creates meaningful outcomes, but also be open to conversation. It’s also helpful to understand that they think in terms of systems and sustainability. They are interested in work that is not only impactful in the moment, but that has the potential to create lasting change.

Most importantly, be authentic. They appreciate organizations that are honest about both their strengths and their challenges, and who are committed to learning and growing.

I would recommend to familiarize yourself with the foundation, what their priorities are, and who they have funded previously. If you are still unsure after that, I would recommend sending a 2-3 sentence summary to the foundation and ask if this is consistent with the types of projects they like to fund.

Pros

Positive leader in the field, Insightful, Friendly, Builds relationships, "Gets" nonprofits and issues, Openminded, Responsive
