Our experience has been very positive. They are thoughtful, strategic, and genuinely care about the long-term impact of the work they support.
If I were advising a colleague, I would say to go in with a clear sense of your mission and how your work creates meaningful outcomes, but also be open to conversation. It’s also helpful to understand that they think in terms of systems and sustainability. They are interested in work that is not only impactful in the moment, but that has the potential to create lasting change.
Most importantly, be authentic. They appreciate organizations that are honest about both their strengths and their challenges, and who are committed to learning and growing.

Nothing that I can think of. I appreciate that the funder wants to be anonymous but I also wonder how we can be better at showing our genuine appreciation for their support.
Communication which is so refreshing!

They are a great foundation to work it - very interested in grantee's experiences both with their foundation and with the landscape in general. They are responsive and easy to work with. It was one of my favorite proposals to put together.

I would recommend to familiarize yourself with the foundation, what their priorities are, and who they have funded previously. If you are still unsure after that, I would recommend sending a 2-3 sentence summary to the foundation and ask if this is consistent with the types of projects they like to fund.
