Excellent communications. The grant questions were also well done - not too repetitive and I appreciated the general guidance on pages rather than "5000 characters" type restrictions.

Closely read the grant guidance for the narrative and attachments. There were some attachments requested that a funder has never asked for before. Give yourself plenty of time to write, review and submit the application.

I would suggest some of the attachments are not necessary to determine the viability of an organization and could be cut to shorten the application
Looks to support the whole nonprofit including with additional services like their partnership with Catch-a-Fire for expert volunteers.

The webinar provided answers to my questions and gave me hope as a new organization to seek out funding from a foundation open to supporting new organizations.

All American Center is dedicated to helping people help themselves and we have been very successful over the years by working with other non-profits, receiving support from other non-profits, the community, corporations, and other resources.
Our primary goal is the Children’s Fund which was started in 1989 with a single goal – to help underprivileged and disadvantaged children, with education, food, clothing and everyday problems all through the year 24/7 and especially during the holiday season with our well know community Christmas parties over the past 25 years.

Best-in-class foundation with high level of transparency and accessibility but the application is lengthy and asks for a lot of information

Please simplify the application, especially for folks who are applying to project funding, it felt like I was filling out two applications due to the separate nature of the organizational narrative and the project narrative
Extremely transparent and accessible

You should feel comfortable making a phone call to find out who is the best person to meet with (by phone or virtually) before you submit an application. There are different program officers for different grant areas.

From the first time I met them and sat in on trainings, the Cafritz Foundation has described themselves as helping small nonprofits - even those so small that the budget is written on a napkin at the kitchen table. We try to be very professional, of course, as we grow but their willingness to start where you are and help you build is admirable.
Good
I am not sure of their overarching goals besides supporting nonprofits in the metro DC region. I feel they do that very well.
Because you are so good at giving advice and building a relationship, I'd like to be encouraged to talk even more candidly about overall budget issues, staffing, salaries, benefits, impacts, etc. Your group classes were nice too. You have so much advice to share!
Because we have a good relationship, I always feel ok about putting a little more detail in the interim and final report than I might otherwise.
Personal relationship building over time and connecting nonprofits to each other.
