Leave the application portal open until the published deadline has been reached. I had been planning to do one final go through several hours before the posted deadline and after we'd received a request for revisions and made those. The portal had been re-opened for the revisions, but when I tried to get back in to do the final go through it had been locked. I requested it be reopened by text but didn't receive a response. Clarify the purposes of the application curing process. In the webinar, we had been informed that the grant officer might be in contact to cure any issues with the proposal after it was submitted. This did not happen in our case. We had been encouraged to discuss the proposal with the officer beforehand, and we used that opportunity to better understand what more we needed to do in the time remaining. Our impression was that we would be a good fit , and as a result we allocated more hours to preparing the application. Since our application was not funded, we are left with the question that, if there were no issues with the application that needed curing and we met the criteria, why was our application declined.

It was a wonderful surprise to be given a grant to help those in the community. Every dollar was spent on food to give to our guests at our food pantry. We experienced over a 40% increase in visits from 2022 to 2023. So grateful for the award!
